The best results have been obtained by following
these instructions:
- One week prior to procedure do not take any of these medications: Asprin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Naprosyn Aleve and Plavix or any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications or blood thinners (Coumadin). Over-the-counter cold medications may contain these medications. Please read the ingredients carefully. You may take Tylenol if needed. Stop any Carafate or liquid antacids 2 days prior to your examination.
- To do a satisfactory examination, you must have an empty stomach. DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT! Do not eat breakfast or take any pills, liquids, or antacids the morning of the procedure (unless instructed by your physician).
A sedative is used for this examination so you
will sleep for a few minutes afterwards. The study and placement
takes approximately 45-60 minutes.
If you are a diabetic or have any lung, heart, kidney or liver disease, please notify the nurse. If you are diabetic do not take your insulin the morning of your examination.
This is an extremely technical and specialized
examination. The instruments are delicate and expensive. The
fee charged must reflect these factors. Please contact your
insurance company so that they will be aware that you are
scheduled for this test. It may require preauthorization,
and you need to make the initial call.
If you have any questions, please contact the nurse at 787-0270
